It’s simply not worth taking any chances with infectious diseases. It’s important to discuss your travel plans with a health professional who can ensure that you have the correct vaccinations for your trip and provide any booster doses you might need.  Many illnesses experienced overseas could have been prevented by the proper vaccinations.

  • At least eight weeks before you leave, seek medical advice from your GP or travel clinic doctor and have any vaccinations you might need prior to leaving Australia.
  • It’s never too late to vaccinate; however, some vaccines require a long period to take effect and more than one dose may be needed.
  • Vaccines can prevent you from contracting some diseases, but remember that new vaccines are constantly being released – and diseases are continuing to evolve.
